I’m sure you’ve all seen Stranger Things. If not then I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Especially since they’re doing collabs with every brand ever and shoving every bit of merch, clothing and trainers down our throats.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy Stranger Things. In fact every time a new series is released I’m binging it as soon as I can. And when I first saw the Nike collab I fell in love. Especially the Cortez, the designers really banged it with those. But I couldn’t bring myself to add them to my collection. I feel like an amazing collaboration was ruined by the fact that it wasn’t exclusive to Nike.
H&M and Levis also hit the streets with their own take on the show. I wouldn’t object to that but it was all shoved in front of us like a kid proud of something they made in school. Where you have to pretend you’re amazed but in reality you’re just praying there’s no more to come.
Maybe I’m just getting tired of the hype. But nobody can deny that there’s a lot more going around in collaborations than people want to see.
I do have to say that it’s been a very clever move to re-raise awareness of the show just in time for Stranger Things 3 but I’ve had more than enough of that – and im begging that there is no more to come.

And there it is, the end of Supreme SS19, and what a season it was. With mixed reviews of the season, in my opinion there were some stand out items for personal cops, but also major opportunities for investments over the summer. These platforms, if used effectively can be a place in order to purchase items at an extremely low price if bought from the right people and for the right price. As always, be sure to have your items legit checked before buying as we want no one to be buying fake Supreme and not being able to sell it on, just please don’t buy fakes!
Now we have established a buying platform, out main is Depop, it’s time to decide which items are going to increase in value. Supreme is known for its expensive box logo design, but there are also many other items in which a decent profit can be made if done correctly. These factors mentioned below will help you decipher which items it purchase:
Season – as of the time of uploading this article, it is in the beginning of summer, t shirts are flying at the minute, allowing for resellers to thrive and make a small quick profit on each tee that they sell. On the other hand, marketplaces are becoming flooded with clothing articles associated with the colder season (hoodies, jackets etc.) As a result of this huge supply arising, prices are on the low, allowing for some steals to come up if you spend time searching. We recommend and clothing with big branding, in a black/white/grey colourway at a reasonable price is a great investment to eventually sell in the winter. Be sure to not overpay, and that you have the funding available to hold these items over the course of the summer. We can see hoodies are now at an average market price of £60-£100, this in our opinion will rise to a minimum of £110-£200 in November and December.
Branding – the most important factor to consider when purchasing an item. Is there clear Supreme branding on the item. If so, it will sell! That is the general rule of reselling Supreme, the bigger the branding the better in most cases. The hype behind the logo and brand of Supreme creates a demand, which will ultimately result in sales. A box logo, arc logo or motion logo are key within the Supreme branding sector. Any items with these will most likely sell. Combine this knowledge with the item itself (e.g a hoodie) within a few months time we can easily see these pieces rising, the clothing itself will become more in demand, coupled with the branding will generate a hype around the piece, therefore hopefully resulting in a profit for you!
In a recent interview with Forbes Magazine, Kanye West (creator and head of Yeezy) has shown hundreds of unreleased samples to the public for the very first time.
Within the interview, Kanye answers questions on the design behind the shoe, as well as he explains it is not all about the sales to him, but the creative design behind each one of his works of art. From this picture alone, we can see hundreds of new silhouettes as well as a variety of colourways yet to release – many of which never will.
An in depth look at this sneaker circle shows the anticipated Yeezy 451 in a variety of styles, coupled with the new Yeezy 350 v3 design, which has also been rumoured to release for a number of months now. Kanye unfortunately sheds no light on which models will be releasing, but we as avid Yeezy fans can only hope for the best and as many to release as possible.
As Kanye once said, ‘anyone who wants Yeezys, will have Yeezys’ and from the looks of this interview, the amount potentially releasing in the near future could make this statement true. Although I am glad with the amount of upcoming designs of the new shoes, many people disagree as the Yeezy bubble is seemingly going to burst. The more designs out there, the more stock and therefore the hype behind the brands dies, resulting in many resellers and collectors not wanting any new shoes. They feel it is a bad decision for the brand itself as it is edging to more general release rather than the previously limited and hard to come by sneaker. So I’m sure you know about Supremes completely random accessories. If not, then you must’ve been living under a rock! They drive the community through the season, wondering when or even if some of the crazy rumours will ever drop. Like really, a brick?
But then again there are some items that are actually quite cool and potentially useful. Big emphasis on POTENTIALLY. Because I can’t imagine the average person has much use for the hatchet?
I’m gonna go through a few of my favourite accessories just based on what I’d love to get my hands on and what I’d have to be paid to own.
Let’s start off with the top of the top, my absolute grail accessories produced by supreme:
Supreme Pool Cue
Now I know £348 for a pool cue is steep, but imagine, it’s your game, called up, boom. You pull out your Supreme branded pool cue. Honestly, I think it’s just a guaranteed win. I was quite shocked that this didn’t sell out instantly, but then again I guess a lot of people don’t have instant access to a pool table. Maybe if Supreme released a pool table too then people would be more keen. HINT HINT SUPREME!
Supreme x TNF Sleeping bag
It is what it says on the tin really. A sleeping bag, that says supreme on it. Imagine having this for a festival though! Bandana print works perfect as a staple in festival fashion. Not only that, TNF don’t slack with their quality. You know that you’d be getting what you paid for. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a retail price online but I can’t imagine it was the average cost of a sleeping bag. Honourable mention; try pairing this with the Supreme x TNF tents for the ultimate festival flex.
Supreme Water Pistols
Again, another accessory that is exactly what it says. Coming in red and blue, the water fights you could have with set teams with these could be epic! One of the ultimate summertime accessories. Now fetching absolutely ridiculous asking prices, I’ve seen people asking for £400 for these bad boys. Safe to say they’re rare and collectable.
Wow! Here it is, the week all Supreme collectors have been waiting for, the most anticipated release of the season, and what a week for it to release. The Supreme x Pearl Drum Kit will be releasing at 11am GMT on Thursday 6th June 2019 in an online exclusive drop, with rumours of an extremely limited supply of stock, just know if you get your hands on this piece you are one lucky buyer.

With the recent success of Virgil Abloh’s latest collection with Louis Vuitton having been appointed lead designer of this season, is there a possibility of the high-end fashion icon arranging and potentially designing a collab that we all need, but never imagined.
Rumors have arisen recently of the potential collab with some mock up images being produced about the potential design that could be implemented. The powerhouse that is Louis Vuitton could be in considerations with a collaboration with Nike to potentially branch out into a more accessible market for those who may not want to pay the high retails which Louis Vuitton offer. But why Nike? Nike has risen massively in popularity over the past few years, this can be due to their previous work with Virgil Abloh on “THE TEN” collection. Nike may want to branch out their brand even more into the more high end fashion industry having already worked with Off-White.
Virgil Abloh would play a huge role within this collab that could potentially happen, as he is currently the head of design at Louis Vuitton, and his previous success with the Off-White collaboration with Nike could prove vital if this was to ever take place. “THE TEN” has, in most Sneakerheads eyes revolutionised the game, with the resale value being 10x the retail of the product, the collaboration helped put Nike back in the front running of not only the sneaker community, but also playing a huge influence within streetwear. Virgil’s designs proved simple but yet had huge hype within the community, a huge factor which caused the Yeezy bubble to burst, Adidas falling behind and a new wave of high-end fashion collaborating with more affordable brands.
If this was to happen, another high-end fashion house collaborating with Nike, what do you think would happen to the likes of other high-street affordable brands such as Adidas? Would they fall further behind? Or would Adidas and other brands push further in order to compete with Nike? Personally, myself and many other members within the streetwear community would love to see a collaboration with Nike and Louis Vuitton, the possibilities could be endless, would there be more of a high-end fashion show feel with vast and extravagant designs, or a more basic and wearable design that could blow up and change the community?
Fashion in modern society is pretty much controlled by music, whether the lyrics or the artist. This can be seen in almost every trend from Yeezy by Kanye West to Puma working with the likes of Rihanna. Although these collaborations and brands have taken the world by storm it’s not exactly new to the industry.
Fashion really began to change in the 60’s when the lower and middle classes began to listen to music that they could relate to, not unlike today, the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles began to wear these bright colours whilst performing in what people now view as the ‘hippie’ era. With that bright colours began to sweep across the nation as the new trend of fashion, this rapidly began to spread to mainland Europe and the USA too, leading to a new wave in fashion and clothing. This change lead from only the rich dressing to impress to now everyone from any walk of life was expressing themselves in the way they were dressing.
That was just the beginning, as we now look at the modern wave of fashion and music it seems that any major artist is in collaboration with a brand or has created their own. Kanye with his Yeezy brand is the perfect example of an artist creating his own brand. Let’s face the facts, Yeezy clothing is massively overpriced, but Kanye is such an influential figure in the music industry that everyone wants to dress like Kanye. The consumer, you and I, are desperate to be like this figure so will happily fork out 100’s on the latest Yeezy tee. Not only did Kanye produce his own successful brand, he is also in collaboration with Adidas. I challenge you to find a young person who hasn’t at least heard of Yeezys. At a point they were the most sought after item of footwear in the industry. Would that be the case if they didn’t have Kanye’s name backing them? The likelihood is no.
However, this trend also links to solely what these influential artist are wearing. In the 80’s and 90’s we saw the rise of groups such as the NWA. With this a fashion of baggy fitting clothes saw a rise in trend (yes obviously other artists were around setting the trends but in my opinion NWA were the most influential). There’s a constant cycle of trends evolving over time but one of the biggest factors causing fashion to change are artists in the music industry.

It was quite a bold claim from a brand that, at the time, had only really been kicking for about a year. With the first Adidas Yeezy shoe hitting the streets on October 29th 2015.
But at the time was Kanye right? 2016-17 was definitely a period where everyone was after a pair of yeezys, people were managing to sell pairs for $1000+ at a time with the highest price that I could find being $3400 for a pair of 350 pirate blacks.
So I guess Kanye was right when the song came out, but does the statement still stand? Is Yeezy still the more popular/sought after brand?
If you were to go onto many of the online forums for sneakerheads today to ask the question then the likelihood is you’d be chased off by a horde of ‘die-hard’ sneaker and trainer fans telling you the common line “Yeezy is dead”; and with the huge boost for Nike and the Jordan Brand from their Off-White collaboration it’s becoming harder and harder to disagree. Although people are still fans of the Adidas Yeezy, it isn’t a shoe people jump for anymore.
Personally, I would put this down to the lack of exclusivity nowadays. Kanye and Adidas have released too many pairs and colourways for people to get excited anymore. A brand built on hype and exclusivity will struggle to become general release with a constant output of variations.
Jordan Brand was built on performance and athleticism. Born in 1985 under the name of the best player of the era, everyone who paid attention to sports in America wanted a pair of Jordans, so Jordan did what any supplier does; keep up with the demand. Whenever demand was depleted, they would bring forward a newer, more modernised model of shoe. Constantly keeping people excited and wondering what was coming next lead the Jordan Brand to be incredibly successful.
Supply and demand is exactly where Yeezy went wrong, they have begun to over deliver their products, people hardly have a chance to look at the latest model before the next is announced and released. This is vastly different to when Yeezy started, with people constantly in anticipation of the next release.
Yeezy just seem to be digging themselves a deeper hole at this point as well, increasing the prices of their products in a desperate attempt to keep profit margins healthy. A shoe that started around the $200 or £160 mark, all the way up to £220 in the UK and around $280 in the US. The shoes aren’t even worth that much in the resell market in most cases now, so how they think this retail price works is beyond me.
The majority of posts on social media now are all about Jordan now, and currently they are killing the game with constant releases. Yeezys on the other hand are getting more and more hate.

Sneakers are designed in a crazy amount of shapes and sizes, let’s face it, if they were all the same where would the love or hate conversations stem from? When it really boils down to the nitty gritty, nearly all trainers feature the basic parts required to produce an awesome shoe. Here’s our anatomical guide to some of the major parts you might find;
TOE BOX – On leather sneakers this area is usually perforated and on running shoes you may find nylon. Its usually a well ventilated area to minimise heat build-up.
MIDSOLE- The section between the upper and the outsole. This is where you’ll find a vast amount of the shoes technology.
FOREFOOT- This is the section towards the front of the shoe which sits just below the ball of the foot. You’ll usually find some flexible grooves here to assist with ease of movement.
OUTSOLE- Hard wearing rubber is generally used here. Different brands have different ways of delivering the outsole but most will use differing outsoles dependant on the shoes designed usage. An example of this would be the circular pattern found around the ball of the foot on a Basketball shoe – the pivot point.
HEEL- Found at the rear of the shoe. Shoe designers concentrate greatly on cushioning this area for maximum comfort.
EYELETS- Used often for speed lacing or t provide added stability
7. INNERSOLE- Sometimes known as the sockliner, the innersole is there to provide extra cushioning and comfort. Quite often the innersole will include a heel cup and an arch support for stability purposes.
8. TONGUE- On more modern designs, known as the inner sleeve and its there to add support and provide the foot with that custom fit.
9. SHOELACES- There to hold the shoe in place and help us again to gain that custom fit.
10. HEEL PATCH- Prime spot for branding! Whilst it adds support to the makeup of the shoe, it’s an ideal spot to place the jumpman, the swoosh or the trefoil and let the whole world know which brand you’ve chosen.
11. ANKLE COLLAR- The ankle collar is reinforced or padded for comfort and support. This is particularly true in hi-top Basketball shoes.
So there you have it, there’s a whole lot more to the makeup of a shoe but this should be enough to keep you involved in the conversations in the local sneaker outlets!
